GENERAL

How does Squid Go work?

Squid Go operates by combining sequential compression with cold therapy. Each Squid Go wrap was uniquely developed for a specific body part with a sequential compression bladder* designed to direct swelling away from the treated body part while driving cold deep into the tissue. The combination of directional sequential compression and deep penetrating cold may help in reducing swelling and pain while allowing better blood circulation in the treated area and reducing inflammation.

* Except for the Shoulder Wrap, which does not benefit from sequential compression.

The duration of each treatment is 15 minutes and is controlled by the Squid Go pump control unit. At the end of each treatment, the pump will sound a short beep and turn off.

Various Orthopedists have used the following protocol for post-surgical knee surgery and the use of Squid Go.

  • Use Squid Go with the gel pack for the first 15-minute treatment.
  • Place gel pack back in the freezer.
  • Use Squid Go for 3 consecutive 15-minute treatments without the gel pack to help reduce swelling.
  • Repeat.

You should always consult your physician for their suggestion before starting post-surgical treatment.

Regular cold gel packs and ice water circulators are less effective since the vascular blood vessels system located under the skin layer carries the cold away from the treated site, resulting in superficial cold treatment and less penetration into muscles and ligaments where it is needed most. In order to drive cold deep into the tissue, Squid Go applies intermittent sequential compression, temporarily reducing venous blood flow and allowing the cold to penetrate through the skin deep into the muscles and ligaments.

How long does it take to charge the Squid Go pump?

The Squid Go pump will take up to 8 hours to fully charge. The Squid Go pump will hold a sufficient charge to drive 15 treatments before recharging. Battery drained? No need to worry, the Squid Go pump can be used while charging.

See the user manual for step-by-step instructions.

When first used, freeze the gel pack for 12 hours to get maximum cold. After each use, the gel pack needs to be put back in the freezer for 3 hours to reach maximum cold once again.
